Umbrella liability coverage forms differ from company to company and each needs to be assessed for each individual policyholder’s requirements and exposure.
The umbrella liability policy is intended to provide additional coverage in excess of other applicable underlying Augusta Mutual policy coverage. The underlying policy is intended to be the primary coverage and the umbrella is intended to be secondary or excess coverage.
An umbrella policy is expected to be insulated from the primary coverage with sufficient underlying coverage limits by all underlying applicable policies. All potential underlying exposures need to be properly assessed and insured. A few of the underlying policies that should be evaluated are Homeowners, Personal Auto, Farmowners, Boatowners, and Recreational Vehicle. These are just a few examples and are not all inclusive. This is not an offer to contract. Policies contain limits, conditions, and exclusions not listed here. Please consult your agent for complete details and carefully read the application and your policy.
